get over it

I'm going to be gone for a while but in lieu of anything even remotely sensible, here's a selection of things that are absolutely giving me the shits recently:

  • all the hundreds of companies whose ad agencies use that "I feel good dada dada dada da" song;
  • reruns of Top Gear;
  • as we're halfway through Good News Week: Mikey Robins;
  • reading the same Glen Milne column every Sunday (hmmm, thinks, in best Bluebottle voice: "so why do I keep doing it?")
  • how "get-go" has insinuated itself into everyday Australian language almost overnight;
  • the colour of Natalie Bassingthwaite's teeth (I guarantee you'll be looking next time, eh);
  • red lights on deserted roads;
  • pointless blog wars;
  • waiting for the bloody election to be over;
  • I feel good dada dada dada da;
  • as I've reformatted this three times already: formatting on blogger....

See ya later.

GNW shits me. :) I feel like I am in a time warp going back a decade whenever I see an ad for it. I like Paul McD, but would like to see him do something different (that isn't that crappy sideshow show he had on the ABC a few years back). All of that said, I have not watched the revived series once, so could be jumping the gun with this opinion.

Good question!

* how "get-go" has insinuated itself into everyday Australian language almost overnight;

I hate "going forward". A lot.

* the colour of Natalie Bassingthwaite's teeth (I guarantee you'll be looking next time, eh);

Going forward, I will make sure I have a look.

* pointless blog wars;

Screw you, pal!

* waiting for the bloody election to be over;

Ditto. This has been the longest short election campaign in history.

It sickens me that so very frequently, the beloved RnB/soul songs of my teen years are now a part of advertising, relentless advertising. Especially when back-in-the-day they were not played on radio at all.
It is because of course, 'Baby Boom'ers like me, are now Senior Creative Directors at ad agencies.

2. oh how I loathe 'going forward' and all the horses it rides in on.

3. Paul McDermott is clever and talented, and one day will find employment which uses this. GNW was appealing the first time round, but I ignore it now.

Dear Sam and Phil in QLD:
dengue, floods, and oil spill - it is all just too much. stay safe.

OK, we is back. Other things that annoy us:
- Eveready and Duracell battery advertisements that each claim their product to be a teeny bit better than the other - or a stupidly humungous amount better;
- Glen Milne - yet again.

AoD, have just returned from flying visit to Longreach. No floods, no dengue, no oil. But plenty hot.
